ROKA Riyadh is slated to open in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the end of this month on July 27, 2021. The award-winning restaurant is located on New Tahlia Gate, a 5,629 square foot venue that can seat 161 diners. inside with 82 additional seats on the terrace of the urban oasis. With design cues taken from iconic London locations in Mayfair and Charlotte Street, a striking industrial chic style.
ROKA brings to Riyadh its award-winning concept of Japanese robatayaki and its unique style of contemporary Japanese cuisine. The robata grill is at the heart of its award-winning menu, a traditional Japanese cooking method inspired by fishermen cooking fish over charcoal on boats in the northern coastal waters off Japan. Flamboyant Grill flagship dishes include kankoku fu kohitsuji (lamb chops with Korean spices and sesame cucumber) and the yakitori-negima yaki (grilled chicken skewers with spring onion). ROKA Riyadh will also serve signature dishes such as non taru taru sake (salmon tartare with den miso and yuzu) and sashimi kampachi without salad (yellowtail sashimi, yuzu-truffle vinaigrette), a dish made famous in London.
The new venue is the brainchild of co-founder and creator Rainer Becker, and the brand’s second international opening after the successful launch of ROKA Dubai. The launch is in partnership with Azumi Ltd and MJS (Mohammed Jawa) Holding, to expand the Azumi brands in the Kingdom. Azumi Limited is an award-winning global restaurant company with established brands delivering contemporary cuisine in key cosmopolitan locations. Created by Rainer Becker and co-founded with Arjun Waney, Azumi’s journey began with the opening of Zuma London in 2002, followed by ROKA London in 2004. In addition to the Japanese concepts Zuma and ROKA, Oblix opened at The Shard in 2013.
