New Japanese hotel brand seeks to deliver next-generation digital hotel experience – Hospitality Net

Popular Japanese real estate developer Global Agents announced the eagerly awaited opening in February 2020 of their new hotel brand, / slash. This new brand seeks to revolutionize the traditional hotel industry in Japan and offer what could be called the next generation of digital hotels. The first branch will open just a five-minute walk from bustling Kawasaki Station (Kanagawa Prefecture).

With a total of 95 rooms, / slash offers guests a unique blend of digital art aesthetics (even room numbers are displayed digitally) and a high-tech smart hotel experience. Guests have full control over their room with a fully integrated application developed specifically for / slash, that guests can find on the iPhone provided in each room. The app has several useful functions, including an alarm system based on the movement of the bed, adjustment of lighting and control of the 80 inch projection screen built into each room. Guests can connect their personal devices to watch one of their favorite shows in their own private theater space.

The first-floor lobby doubles as a spacious café and bar area where travelers can mingle with locals and enjoy endless free beer during daily Happy Hour. Combining digital art, bright ambient lighting and floral art, the lobby / cafe is the perfect place to grab a snack, enjoy a glass of wine while reading a book, or just escape the hustle and bustle of the city. In addition, guests can also enjoy unlimited free hot drinks in the top-floor mini-kitchen which opens onto an incredible rooftop terrace with stunning views of the Kawasaki region.
